Hi,
I would like to introduce myself; my name is Leanne Wilkinson and I am currently in the role of Designated Clinical Officer for SEND. I work within the West Yorkshire ICB in Wakefield. The role has recently been enhanced to be a full time position, so it is really exciting to be able to build on what is already in place whilst also further developing and expanding the role.
I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse, I have worked across lots of different areas from inpatient setting settings, Childrens Secure Estates and more recently developing the Wakefield CAMHS Reach Team and Eating Disorder team.
A significant part of my role as Clinical Designated Officer is to have oversight and awareness from the Health Perspective with the area of SEND. Including contributing in the formal plan discussions for Education, Health and Care Plan process. Whilst, providing support if needed to the professionals who contribute or complete the plans. I will be working together with the teams to identify good practice and areas for improvement, then supporting the and implementing any required improvements.
Promoting and building on the links between Health and the SENDS team is a priority for me. There is work that is due to commence in the background with Mid Yorks.To review pathways and processes to look at streamlining the request for info, with the view to make this easier all round and provide the information without delay. As we know this will take time, but if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, it would be great to hear them.
With that said, there will be a focus to ensure we can evidence a strong Local Offer with clear Health Journeys for those 0-25yrs with SEND.
