Things are changing here at Wakefield Parent Carer Forum...
As some of you may know, Wakefield Parent Carer Forum has been managed entirely by volunteers since we launched in April 2020.
Since our launch our membership size has grown significantly and we are involved in various SEND work streams across the district, which means the size of our team needed to grow too, to enable us to extend our offer and manage the workload. Therefore we have taken the huge step to becoming an employer in 2025.
After a successful recruitment drive, we are very pleased to have some amazing new staff joining us, each one is a SEND parent carer so they will be bringing their own experience and knowledge to their new role too.
We have recruited -
- 4 Parent Carer Representatives who you will see in our Coffee & Chat sessions in schools, Family Hubs and at our unit in Castleford.
- 1 Parent Carer Co-Ordinator who you will see at events across the district.
- 3 SEND Play Workers who you will see at our weekly Children's activities.
- 1 Forum Support Worker who you will see at some of our events but will also be supporting us behind the scenes to ensure our sessions run smoothly.
We are all looking forward to supporting and representing SEND families across the Wakefield district.
